Canadian privacy legislation defines personal information broadly as information about an identifiable individual or as information that allows an individual to be identified.
Consent to our collection of personal information
In most cases, we obtain your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information, including name, title, company, address, e-mail address, and telephone and fax numbers. Usually, if you contact our company, we assume that we have your implied consent to the collection and use of your personal information, but we may at times ask for your verbal or written consent. Generally, we collect personal information directly from you. Sometimes, we may obtain information about you from others sources, such as a government registry. Our company will collect personal information that is required or legitimate in the course of normal business operations.
Use of Personal Information at Roofmart
We use your personal information to facilitate the services offered on the website and to provide better and more useful services of the users of the website, to respond to queries or requests of users, to provide the product, service or information requested, when you purchase or return merchandises at one of our stores, when you purchase one of our gift cards online, to receive promotional emails, SMS text messages and other communications, to participate in contests or promotion, to participate in our surveys or other customer research, to apply for employment, to contact us or one of our members with a comment, question or complaint, to process payment, to send you information, to issue invoices, to detect and protect Roofmart and other third parties against error, fraud, theft and other illegal activity, and to audit compliance with Roofmart policies and contractual obligations, to understand your needs and preferences, including to contact and communicate with you and to conduct surveys, research and evaluations, to maintain our database of clients or for any other purpose we may indicate to you from time to time.

Disclosure of Personal Information
Generally, we will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, unless permitted or required by applicable laws or court orders or where Roofmart has reasonable grounds to believe the information could be useful in the investigation of unlawful activity.
We may disclose your personal information to the following third parties in the following circumstances: disclosure to companies that provide services on your behalf, disclosure to affiliates, disclosure to trading partners, disclosure in business transfers and in any other circumstances as deemed appropriate by Roofmart from time to time.
Roofmart uses various safeguards to ensure that your personal information is protected against loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying or modification. These measures include the security of our physical premises, our obligations, protection software and firewalls to prevent computer unauthorized computer access or hacking as well as internal passwords to restrict access to our electronic files.
However, as effective as our security measures are, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our database, nor can we guarantee that information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the Internet. We ask that you do your part to ensure security of personal information, by maintaining any computer passwords you use to access the Internet strictly confidential.
Access to your Personal Information
You have the right to challenge the accuracy and completeness of your personal information and have it amended, whenever necessary. You also have the right to request access to your personal information and receive information on how the information was used and disseminated, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law. For example, if the requested information reveals personal information about another individual, your request for access may be limited or denied. If your request for access is denied, Roofmart will notify you in writing about the reason for the denial.

Privacy on the Website
Like most other commercial websites, we may monitor traffic patterns, website usage and related website information to optimize your visit to our website.
When an individual visitor accesses the Roofmart website, we may use a browser feature called a cookie to collect information such as the type of Internet browser and operating system the visitor uses, the domain name of the website from which the visitor came, date and duration of the visit, number of visits, average time spent on our website, pages viewed and number of cookies accumulated. Unless a visitor specifically informs us (e.g. by enrolling for our services or sending us correspondence from the website), we will not know who the individual visitors are. In addition to the identified purposes described in these terms, we may use this website information and share it with other organizations with whom we have a commercial relationship to measure the use of our website and to improve the functionality and content of the website. We encourage parents to take an active interest in their children’s use of the Internet. We do not intend to collect information from children who are under the age of majority. If you are under the age of majority, please do not provide information on our website.
You do not have to register to visit our website. Some of the features offered through our website may require you to register and provide various information, including but not limited to: your name, address, phone number, email address, and a password that you select. Your registration information is used to provide and otherwise administer the service you requested. We may also request certain optional additional information, or offer you the opportunity to participate in one of our customer surveys or research. If you choose to participate, we use the optional information and survey results to help us understand our customers and to tailor and enhance our product and service offerings, promotions and events. When you register we may also provide you with an opportunity to sign-up for future promotional email, SMS text messages or other communications. All software that is made available for downloading from the website (Software) is protected by copyright and may be protected by other rights. The use of such software is governed by the terms of the software license agreement (License Agreement). The downloading and use of such software is conditioned on your agreement to be bound by the terms of the License Agreement.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed to be severed from the rest of these terms and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions.
Changes in policy
We may change this policy from time to time. These changes will appear on the website, roofmart.ca, and will be available upon request by getting in touch with your contact at Roofmart or the Privacy Officer.
